Overview
The Apex Hotel is situated in W Victoria Dock Road close to the Banks of the Tay and just Five minutes away from Dundee Bus Station. The main entrance , bar and restaurant areas have very high ceilings that help give it a very airy feel which was extremely helpful during the hot weather during our stay . The bar and restaurant are located on the ground floor area and the restaurant has chairs that can be easily moved by the staff if a Wheelchair user needs access The reception desk is on the Left hand side as you enter from the car park and is high however staff will be pleased to move around to allow you to book in and use card reader etc if required the bar and restaurant area are off to the left just after the reception desk The lifts to all floors are also to the left after the reception desk area. The door to the Yu Spa area is located on the Right accross from the reception desk The bedrooms all have the normal Tea/ Coffee facilities as well as a safe and small fridge this was very helpful in keeping water cold if you need to take any prescription medication. There is also a small outdoor area that has a number of benches and tables where you can enjoy a drink if the weather is nice The restaurant has a varied menu form Breakfast Lunch and Dinner and will ask if you have any allergies etc
Transport & Parking
There are Four Blue Badge Spaces in the Hotel Car Park these are closest to the main entrance to the hotel. The bus station is Five minutes away where you can get buses to various parts of the city as well as others parts of Scotland eg Glasgow Edinburgh and St Andrew's.
Access
The hotel has Two entrances one from the car park which is the main entrance there are revolving doors at both however on the car park side there is a power assisted door that allows wheelchair access. This was open most of the time during our stay at the hotel. There is a button at the other entrance this is on the dock side of the hotel that allows you to call a member of staff to open the other door into the bar area this is about 10m from the revolving doors. The Accessible room we had had lots of space to move around in a Wheelchair .
Toilets
The toilet in the bedroom was fine and there was both bathroom and shower available. The shower is walk in / Wet flooring. I was slightly disappointed by the fact that the toilet its self did not have a lot of space around it as it was very close to the large mirror and bathroom sink. I was pleased to note that the Red cords in the bathroom were hanging freely to the floor however I was disappointed to note that this the only Red Cord available was between the toilet and the shower there was no Red Cord next to the bath or in the bedroom area .
Staff
Each and every member of staff we meet was extremely welcoming and helpful from the staff on reception, restaurant and bar area and the staff who refreshed the rooms every day all made sure that the guests had everything they needed
Anything else you wish to tell us?
If you want items like a shower chair made available then you have to contact the hotel to add this to your booking. You Can't actually book accessible rooms online so I would recommend that you either email or phone them to check if they have rooms available for your choosen date. The hotel can advice you on the car park and electric charging points if required
