Overall Rating
Good
Sir Edward Heath’s house after he was UK Prime Minister, and into his retirement. House as he lived in it: lots of pictures on walls, plus gifts in display cabinets from international visits, and his piano plus a lot more. Fascinating. And a large garden to eat our picnic.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Guides put ramp over steps to access the house on mobility scooter. Easy access on ground floor with space. Garden fully accessible
Parking & Transport
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
This is in Cathedral Close: everyone has to pay to enter the area (£10 when we visited). Lots of blue badge bays. Access to the ground floor of the house for mobility scooters, and iPads to see the staircase and first floor exhibits. It is just opposite the cathedral so easy to visit both on same day.
Accessible facilities: Public or on street parking
Accessible Toilets
No toilets but accessible toilets in cathedral nearby. No refreshments at venue
Staff
Excellent
Volunteer guides very friendly and knowledgable, mindful of different visitors’ needs
