This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair
Overview
Decent accessibility for wheelchairs.
Transport & Parking
Disabled parking bays outside of the shop. The i4 and indigo trent barton buses run to the road outside of ASDA. These buses go to/from Derby or to/from Nottingham. The stops are a couple minutes walk away.
Access
Level access entrance with automatic electric doors. Wheelchairs and scooters available to borrow. There is a disabled child trolley. Wheelchair trolleys available but they don't fit all wheelchairs. Lights in the shop are very bright. There is a lowered accessible till (usually busy as open to everyone). There are other tills that are wide but not lowered but many are too narrow to be used in a wheelchair. Contactless payments available and card machines can move. Induction loop for hearing impaired available. Freezers have heavy doors and some items are in open chest style freezers. Many items are high up.
Toilets
Accessing toilet is using radar key. White grab rails around toilet and sink. Toilet is right side transfer. There is a lowered mirror and lowered coat hook. Enough floor space for a powerchair. There are 3 bins in the loo for some reason and a baby changing table even though this ASDA has separate baby changing facilities.
Staff
Very limited number of staff available to help. Staff will help pack shopping if needed. Supposedly you can also have staff help take shopping to car but you would have to wait a while.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Covid: Half screens around tills. No one making sure masks cover hands & nose. Cleaning station. Gets very busy as they allow a large number of customers in store.
