Beautiful 18th century park with excellent restaurant

This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair

Overview

Shady tree-lined paths, two flak towers dating from 1944-45, beautiful 18th century buildings and a great place to eat. There is also a Museum of Porcelain, which we didn't visit but which appeared to be accessible.

Transport & Parking

4

Can't comment on the parking. Tram 5 gets you close, and U bahn Line 4 (station Rossauer Lande) Is about half a mile away.

Access

5

The park is flat. Most of the paths are light gravel - no problem for a wheelchair user with an accompanist and should be OK for someone used to self-propelling. A few of the paths are tarmac. There is level access to the Cafe Restaurant.

Toilets

5

The accessible loo in the Cafe Restaurant is clean, equipped with grab rails and an alarm, reasonably spacious and easy to access.

Staff

Courteous and attentive. One waiter helped my wife (who had transferred to a chair) back into her wheelchair at the end of our meal.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Don't be put off by the steps at the main entrance to the Cafe Restaurant - it is accessible. To the right of the building as you face it there is a small archway in the wall surrounding its garden. Go through the archway, turn left and you will find a level access to the building. The food was great and the ambience lovely. We ate outside under a large awning. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and would be easy to move around in a wheelchair.
