Located right in the middle of a motorway service station, this TotalEnergies facility is an acceptable stopping point. The location has good on-site amenities including picnic benches, screenwash stations, public toilets and external clothes washing equipment. However, the charger unit was not designed to be fully accessible.

    Disabled Access In and Around

The charging spaces are not designated or marked as accessible bays for disabled drivers and they do not meet standard PAS 1899 size specifications. Signs route drivers to the station from the road and the layout is obvious upon entering the service station. There are lots of bollards that obstruct access to the charger. The screen can be easily read from both fully standing and seated heights, and the bottom of the payment terminal sits at an accessible height between 800mm and 1000mm from the ground.

    Parking & Transport

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There are 6 standard charging bays plus 1 dedicated heavy electric vehicle (lorry EV) bay at this location. Upon arrival, 3 of the standard bays were occupied by other vehicles. The chargers are run by TotalEnergies and deliver up to 300 kW charging speeds. Our battery was at 37% when we arrived and reached 100% over 50 minutes, costing a total of £30.04. We paid on the app, though the station also supports card and RFID options. We experienced payment issues, with Anjna trying both a Visa and a Mastercard before successfully using a third alternative bank card to get everything started. There were instructions on the unit, but the English font was tiny and contained a lot of words. Multiple selectable language options are available on the software menu. The charger features its own attached cable and connector equipped with a retractor system, though the length is only somewhat flexible as the cable got caught on the bollard. The connector handle weighs 4.6 kg.

    Accessible facilities: Electric Vehicle Charging

    Accessible Toilets

There are no standalone public facilities right next to the chargers, but the main complex facilities and toilets are available nearby within the service station building.

    Additional Information

There are no standalone help points or customer assistance options mounted on site at the units. There is overhead lighting present across the parking grid for night use. A shelter fully covers the individual charging stations. While the station features good facilities overall, they are not accessible.
