About

The site is an open air archaeology museum with reconstructions of buildings, including a Saxon longhall, the dining room of a Roman villa (with working hypocaust heating) and an Iron Age roundhouse (under construction). These have been joined by a waterline replica of a Viking trading ship and the oldest surviving archaeological excavation hut in the UK.

Disabled Access at Avalon Archaeology

A firm path connects all the buildings and is suitable for wheelchairs and walking aids. Wheelchair access is possibel to all buildings and the Viking boat. The website link has more details and pictures of the venue and the entrances etc.

Accessible parking at Avalon Archaeology

There is a car park on site with 4 dedicated disabled parking bays, 2 of which are in front of the gates to Avalon Archaeology. The car park is part of the Avalon Marshes Centre which has its own listing and is managed by Natural England. The entrance to the site is wheelchair accessible and is approximately 20 metres from the car park along tarmac paths and wooden boardwalks.

Toilets features at Avalon Archaeology

The toilets are not managed and run by us but are part of the Avalon Marshes Centre, which has its own listing details. The toilets are accessible by ramp and there is a dedicated disabled toilet which can be found adjacent to the site at the Avalon Marshes Centre bedise the cafe.
