Overview
We attended with a large group of young people and staff with a big variety of accessibility requirements. Whilst there are stairs to the upstairs bedrooms, the downstairs rooms and bathrooms were all accessible for those using mobility aids, and the kitchen was also easy for everyone to access - although the counter/cookers do not change in height, but there was enough space that it made manoeuvring easy even with a large group. However, there were not any emergency pull cords in our bathroom, so maybe adding them would be a good change!
Transport & Parking
There was a very large car park at the entrance to the centre, but only 2-3 spaces beside each of the cabins. This was plenty for us though and it was great to be able to park right beside the cabins. Getting from the main car park to the cabins is quite far to walk/wheel but it was manageable for our participants.
Access
I find signage sometimes harder to spot, so could have benefitted from a little more clear indication of where to find the right cabin, but this could have just been me. As is always the case in the great outdoors, the roads are a little uneven at times, and there are a few steep bits where some people who use mobility aids required a little extra assistance to get up, but we got on fine overall.
Toilets
The bathrooms in the cabins were all wet rooms with lots of space to manoeuvre, turn, and receive assistance from a carer if needed. It might have been handy to have a stool/bathroom chair to use during transferring or in the showers. The floors can get slippy so I think the addition of pull cords would make a huge improvement in case of emergency
Staff
All of the centre staff that I interacted with were lovely, easy to find and we saw them going around regularly so it would have been easy to speak to someone if we needed.
