Reliable but risky stop

Balfour Street tram stop sits as an island-style stop in the middle of Leith Walk. Like the rest of the route, there is level access to the tram, which is great for those of us using mobility aids. This stop is slightly let down by its placement which feels a bit dangerous. There are pedestrian traffic lights, but cars turning left from Dalmeny Street have a very short braking distance. You also need to watch out for bikes flying along the cycle lane. The other three nearby crossings to reach the tram stop feel a bit less stressful, but you still need to keep an eye out for bikes, along with the usual traffic.
Disabled Access In and Around

Just like the other stops across the city, there are ramps on either side of the platform and seats with the rain shelters so you can take a breather while you wait. You’ll find ticket machines here too, although you can always buy your ticket through the ET app if that’s easier. The platform edges have tactile markings, and there’s a help point with braille for anyone who needs information or wants to call for assistance in an emergency. Overhead signage shows tram times. There’s also a hearing loop in place. I've rated this a litltle lower due to the rather scary crossing previously mentioned, otherwise it's a great accessible stop.
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel
You might be lucky enough to find some on-street parking, but there aren’t any public car parks nearby. Buses run along Leith Walk, and they stop close to the tram stop.
