Balmedie Beach Wheelchairs

Absolutely brilliant and would recommend. We turned up early and the volunteers were already there. They walked us round to the bunker where we transferred into the beach accessible chair. From there we were left to go explore the sandy beach. (Blankets are available to borrow) I would recommend this to anyone as my grandma says ‘I haven’t felt the sand in between my toes in years and I never thought I could again’ To add to all of this - completely free!! They accept donations but nothing is expected. They have both a stand-aid and hoist available in the bunker - all info is on their website and very clear.

I did a separate review - Balmedie beach wheelchairs - but wanted to say that there are now 5 different beach wheelchair buggies to rent for free. Plus a hoist and change table. They have a Facebook page to book - open sundays but could open other days if a volunteer is available

Balmedie beach has a lovely small team of volunteers that hire out ( for free) various beach buggies and wheelchairs. There is a hoist and a change table etc. You have to call the number on their Facebook to book ( to make sure a team member is there to help you). They have 2 different sized hippocampe buggies and 3 other types. Something for everyone. Lovely to get into the beach with friends and family.
