Disabled Traveller at delightful 5* Marina and shops

This is a truly delightful visit for disabled, as it’s wheelchair friendly throughout, care has been given to make sure you can enjoy the site for whatever appeals to you that day. Almost 20 years ago, work started to redeveloped the old Marina, situated on the Trent and Mersey canal, just outside of Burton on Trent, and from 1994 to 1997, 1.3 million tons of sand and gravel were excavated to form the new Marina and two fishing lakes, and the lakes offer wonderful walking areas that disabled can enjoy as well, as the paths around the main duck ponds have been laid so that wheelchairs can cope, and seating areas have been provided if a break is needed. 13 retail shops and a garden centre overlook the Marina, which offers mooring for 300 barges, and all of it is well maintained and attractive. The shops are nice small outlets, offering all sorts of interesting, and reasonable priced goods, and each little shop has made sure that wheelchairs can safely move around as you enjoy browsing their selection. Do visit the Waterfront restaurant, ( which we offer you a separate review) as it’s not only an ideal coffee or lunch venue, but it’s so clean and attractive, with disabled toilet available. OUR FINAL THOUGHTS If you get the chance, you must visit, you certainly won’t be disappointed, it’s got character and charm, we personally fully enjoyed our visit, the shops were fascinating to browse through, all good quality nice items on sale, very appealing outlets with friendly helpful staff. The Marina itself is attractive with all the barges, easy to walk around, and on a nice sunny day it would be a treat to just sit and watch the world go by. WE FULLY RECOMMEND YOU VISITING.
