Some friends along with my wife and I went out for my surprise birthday meal to Basil Restaurant in Dunfermline. the staff were fantastic during our visit from start to finish and the food was outstanding. This will be a regular eatery for us from now on.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
The restaurant is directly accessible from the street, very spacious with wheelchair access available to seventy-five percent of the tables, with staff at hand to assist if required or move seats if needs be,
Parking & Transport
Good
There is parking (three or four disabled) all along the street that the restaurant is on and it is situated a five-minute walk from the bus station and the train station is about ten minutes away.
Accessible Toilets
0Sorry I did not use the toilets, but one of my friends told me that the loos were spotless and there was a disabled toilet at the top of the restaurant. from the furthest table that would be around Thirty to forty Metres.
Staff
Excellent
The staff were fantastic, from the smiles that first greeted you as you walked in the door all the way through taking our drinks orders, serving the drinks, giving us more time to make our minds up as to what to order, to taking the order which could not have been easy with six of us discussing what we fancied and continually changing our minds because of the wide range of choices on their menu. The starters were delivered to the table around five minutes later and were delicious, the staff cleared away and asked if we wanted a break also taking a fresh drinks order. our mains were delivered around fifteen minutes later and as well as looking wow!! they tasted outstanding. no one could fit a desert in so we had coffee and teas with complimentary mints. on our way out the staff allowed us to wait inside for our taxi and as a birthday treat they served me a complimentary spirit of my choice, what a lovely gesture. I had a great discussion with one of the young waitresses and she told me that it is a family business and what a fantastic experience the family gave me.
