Overview

Quiet peaceful location away from main roads yet within easy reach of all the local attractions, Beamish Museum especially. Metro Centre also close by. Good free parking and easy ramp access to hotel. We as a group booked rooms 1,2, and 3 on the ground floor, all with immense double beds and excellent furnishings. Room 1 [ours] had a walk-in wet room /shower. Sliding patio doors from the room straight onto your parking space. Outside the room there is seating in the hotel lobby and tables available for guests in a conservatory-type area. Flat access throughout, excellent restaurant, excellent staff. Disabled toilets easily accessible in corridor outside the restaurant.

Transport & Parking

Disabled parking with direct ramped access at the main hotel entrance, while the 3 ground floor bedrooms can gain via patio doors to their own dedicated parking spaces. Public transport I would suggest is non-existent and a car would be essential for getting around the area.

Toilets

Standard but really high standard disabled loo with plenty of room for wheelchair access. Not a "changing places" loo but there are very few of these anywhere in the country.

Staff

The head waiter/barman whose name I unfortunately did not catch was welcoming, attentive, and entertaining. The younger foreign waitresses were good although there were slight problems communicating between Polish, Geordie and Scottish. All adding to the entertainment. The morning breakfast squad were in the main locals and also very friendly cheerful and professional.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would gladly recommend the Beamish Park Hotel to anyone with disabilities especially if they book a ground floor bedroom. The 6 of us were there to celebrate our outstanding friendship with 4 of us being 70 this year having started primary school in the same day/same class. A superb experience was had by all, even the 68 year old youngsters!
