Overview

From the moment we arrived the experience was very relaxing. Plenty of parking and disabled toilets close to the entrance. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The gardeners, although busy maintaining the grounds, were always happy to spend the time to answer my questions. Most of the garden paths are gravel or gently sloping turf.

Transport & Parking

We drove to Beth Chatto Gardens which is situated about 4 miles from Colchester. A brown tourist sign is easy to spot on the A133 near Elmstead Market.

Access

The disabled parking is close to the entrance. All areas of the garden were accessible via gently sloping gravel or grass paths. I am told the woodland area can get a little muddy when wet however it was fine when we visited. The coffee shop is also accessible and inviting. Only assistance dogs are allowed. Mobility vehicles are not for hire at the gardens.

Toilets

The disabled toilets are near the entrance and are very spacious.

Staff

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Even the gardeners despite being very busy with maintaining the gardens took the time to answer my questions.

I will certainly be visiting again to see the gardens change throughout the seasons.
