About

Bethlem Royal Hospital was founded in 1247 and was the first institution in the UK to specialise in the care of the mentally ill. The hospital continues to provide in-patient care as part of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and has been based in south London since 1930. Since 2015 Bethlem Museum of the Mind has been open to the public in the Hospital's former administration building. Its displays offer unparalleled resources to support learning about the history of mental healthcare and treatment. There is no charge for entry. Our mission Bethlem Museum of the Mind records the lives and experience, and celebrates the achievements, of people with mental health problems. We aim to become a leading information and learning resource for the history of mental health care and treatment.

•Parking is free for all users. •The car park is located opposite the venue. •Blue Badge holders do not need to be booked in advance. •There is 1 designated parking bay within the car park. •The dimensions of the designated parking bay(s) are 340cm x 400cm (11ft 2in x 13ft 1in). •The nearest designated bay is 45m (49yd 8in) from the main entrance. •Assistance may be required because there is / are slopes/ramps. •There is a dropped kerb between the car park and the venue. •The dropped kerb does not have tactile paving •The patron does have to cross a quiet road.

There is room for clear manoeuvring. •The tap type is mixer, sensor activated.
