Overview

I've visited Blacketyside many times, both before and after its remodel and I'm happy to say the disabled access has vastly improved! They now have a ramp at the main entrance with level access throughout, and have made the shop and cafe floor larger to make aisles wider and allow wheelchairs to move around easily.

Transport & Parking

5

The farm shop has a large car park with plenty spaces and spaces close to the door for Blue Badge holders. Managed to get parked easily although the car park is gravel so when we've been with my gran who used a push wheelchair/walker it has been a little difficult, but the blue badge spaces at the front of the car park have a path leading to the front entrance so if you're able to park there it isn't too much of an issue. the farm shop is busiest at the weekends so if you want to make sure you get a blue badge space, definitely go during the week!!

Access

5

the main entrance has a ramp for wheelchairs, buggies, walkers etc to use, and on the other side there are two small steps. access is flat throughout with slight bumps at the threshold to each door but these are nothing dramatic and my grans wheelchair went over them no bother. the shop and cafe have wide walkways throughout and is a lot better than it used to be - because they're wider now, it's not as much of a squeeze with a wheelchair and moving around is a looot easier now! furniture in the cafe can be moved on request by staff but please don't do what we saw today and come into the cafe without being seated by staff, then move furniture without asking - it makes their job a whole lot harder and disturbs everyone around you!

Toilets

0

the cafe has toilets off to the side of the counter where you order food/drinks, but we didn't visit so i don't know what the disabled facilities are like.

Staff

staff are amazing, friendly and helpful, always with a smile on their face! very willing to move furniture around if asked to accommodate for visitors and are very quick to serve you!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

the recent remodel has made accessing blacketyside a whole lot easier for disabled people, with a marked improvement to the shop and cafe floor to give wheelchair users more space to see everything on display! i recommend going during the week to avoid the shop at its busiest because it can be very crowded, loud and busy. amazing food, amazing staff and amazing local produce in the shop grown from the farm, supporting local farms in fife!
