Great place to relax
Good smooth path along the Quay with no kerbs to worry about, lovely views over the moorings to the marshes. Coastal footpath continues in both directions to Morston where the seal trips go from & to Cley. The coastal footpath is mostly pretty flat but it is an unfinished surface so will be bumpy.
Lots of places to eat & drink, the long in the Blakeney hotel has a big glass wall on the first floor overlooking the marshes towards the sea well worth a look.
2 pubs both serving food as well as cafes etc. If going during holiday season April to October there are places to eat with outdoor seating on the car park.
Please please please check tide times & heights the car park will flood on a higher than 9m tide mostly during spring tides but can also be weather related. We often see visitors cars destroyed by the tide despite signage.
Quay car park is compacted hardcore uneven in places but doable with a wheelchair, try to park near the hut as you'll be closer to the footpath & the surface is better.
Crabbing is popular along the Quay, bait only no hooks & don't keep dozens of crabs in one bucket it's cruel. When the tide is out on the other side of the shallow tidal creek is a sandbank & kids always enjoy mud sliding down the bank.
Be aware the tide comes in quickly & fast if you crossover ensure you cross back before tide turns or you'll need a boat to avoid swimming. The creek is extremely safe & clean to play & swim in, its a regular activity of local kids in the hot weather.
There's a handful of free unlimited time parking spaces near the slipway at the end of the Quay near Spar with on dedicated as Blue badge only.
Opposite Carnser is a toilet block with disabled toilet accessible via radar key. There are also disabled friendly toilets in the village hall car park.
Carnser car park at the other end us free for national trust members & chargeable at a daily rate for others this is NOT transferable to other car parks, its free after 6pm but again watch tide times they're usually on the hut.
Seal trips are excellent & whilst none of the are truly wheelchair accessible, every single company will do their absolute best to help you, you never get to open sea as you're protected by the shingle spit so it's never truly choppy like open sea would be & doesn't take long to get out there & at the right times you'll see hundreds if not thousands of seals & in breeding season pups too. Some trips on particularly high tides will drop you off for a wander at the point & then collect you shortly later.
If you want to walk to the point you can't really do it from Blakeney as the channel is between you & it, you'd need to walk from Cley beach but as the entire beach is shingle & often deep shingle it is definitely not suitable for wheelchairs & scooters, it's a very long hike about 8 miles each way.
Please if visiting remember as much as it seems like it's quiet Norfolk countryside our country roads between villages are 60mph roads often with tight bends on them most locals wouldn't walk them so I'd suggest you pick walking routes carefully & not just follow roads and if you do please wear hi-vis as even in daylight pedestrians are hard to see esp when wearing dark clothes & in the shade.
Also if going out at night you definitely need hi-vis & a torch minimum. Most of this area has no streetlights.
