Overview
Small public gardens, next to the entrance to the Old Fortress. Originally known as Bosketto Gardens, but was re-named Bosketto Durrell in 2016, in honour of the writers Gerald and Lawrence Durrell.
Transport & Parking
Corfu Town is a short 5 – 10 minutes’ drive by taxi from Corfu Airport. There are buses that serve the town centre and taxis are plentiful and quite reasonably priced.
Access
There are 3 entrances to the gardens. The entrance next to the Old Fortress is step free and I think so too is the one in the centre. However the entrance by the children's playground involves a couple of steps. It's a level garden with quite wide paths, areas to lawn and plenty of flowers and trees. There are a few pleasant shady spots. In the garden there are reliefs of Gerald and Lawrence Durrell, as well as various bust and statues and a couple of ponds. There are nice view towards the Old Fortress and out to sea. Plenty of benches to sit on. There is a small children's play area with swings, but it wasn't noisy.
Toilets
There is a problem of lack of public toilets in Corfu. Near the Old Fortress entrance there is a building with men and women toilets and a third door which appeared to be for the attendant who was collecting payment. I didn't use the facilities but they were the only public toilets I noticed in Corfu Town during my stay.
Staff
NA - I didn't meet any staff. However, gardens are beautifully maintained.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is a really nice spot to sit and relax in. Most days on my holiday I would go there to sit and read or have a picnic lunch. highly recommend.
