Bradgate Park Trust

This was perfect for Chloe who is 9 years old, has muscular dystrophy and uses a power wheelchair (but can stand and walk short distances). The cafe had limited indoor space and food choice, but we made it work!

The park is a fantastic place to see deer up close, as well as the occasional peacock. I used a standard powerchair for my visit rather than hiring one of the trampers and found the experience to be very easy and comfortable.

Bradgate Park is part of the national trust charity and is well known for the free roaming deer and 830 acres that is publically accessible. . The lower area of the park has a tarmac pathway and is easily accessible and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, with scenic views and the River Lin that runs through the lower park that has become a favourite for picnic areas. There are two café one in the Newtown Linford car park and the other in the middle of the park, these are both wheelchair accessed and are purposed built with a hoist in the Newtown Linford disabled toilet and handrails. A new off road mobility scooter has been issued to the park called a tramper. This is free of charge however booking is essential which a phone call to the Estate office is. The tramper can be collected from the car park following a completion of the registration and safety instructions that can take 20 minutes. This allows access over other areas that cannot be covered by a standard wheelchair.
