Overall Rating
Excellent
Crazy Coqs is a live entertainment space within the Brasserie Zedel building. The entrance to the building, on Sherwood Street (just off Piccadilly Circus), is step-free and has a person stationed at the entrance to open / close the door, welcome visitors and direct them where to go. Two lifts are available to take visitors to the lower floor, where Brasserie Zedel, Crazy Coqs and Bar Americain are located. Leaving the lift, you first enter a spacious circular lobby with a cloakroom, ticket desk, doors to the brasserie and bar, and a flight of steps up to Crazy Coqs. I had emailed ahead so the staff were ready with a ramp for these stairs but you can just ask any member of staff and they will arrange this. Crazy Coqs is a relatively small space so many tables are close together. However, if you need more space, just let the staff know and they will seat you at a more suitable table - I would strongly recommend contacting them in advance for this to be sure. I was given early entry so I didn't have to navigate around other people which was definitely appreciated. Every member of staff I encountered was polite and extremely helpful throughout the evening. I didn't use the toilet there (I am blessed with a bladder of steel) but I was assured they do have accessible facilities and reviews on this site for 'Brasserie Zedel' talk highly of them.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
The main entrance is step-free from the street with a member of staff stationed at the door to assist. There are two lifts to take you from the ground floor to the basement, where the restaurant, bar and cabaret venue are located. The cabaret venue is up a short flight of stairs from the central lobby area in the basement but a ramp is available.
Accessible facilities: Lift to all areas, Step-free entrance
Parking & Transport
Good
I travelled to this place by train
I took the tube to Green Park station and walked from there. I use a wheeled frame and walk very slowly so this took around 30-40 minutes walk-time (plus a few rest breaks, and a cheeky diversion into Fortnums on the way)! Green Park station is step-free but there is a fair bit of walking between the three lifts you need to take to get from the Piccadilly Line to street level.
Staff
Excellent
I cannot praise the staff here highly enough. From the doorman who immediately asked if I need any assistance to the serving staff who never once behaved like my frame was in their way (even when it sometimes must have been) and everyone in between. I felt welcomed at every stage and, something I think many of us will recognise from attitudes in various venues, never felt like the extra accommodations I needed were at all a burden.
