2 reviewsBute Park offers an extensive area of mature parkland within Cardiff’s city centre. It boasts a nationally-significant tree collection, impressive sculptures, an education centre, three cafes, and a wealth of horticulture and wildlife interest. The site benefits from good public transport access and near-by car parking. The terrain is mostly flat with good quality paths and accessible directional and interperative signage. Park interpretation also includes a narrated self-guided history trail which is hosted on the HistoryPoints website http://historypoints.org/index.php?page=bute-park, and is also accessible via QR code links on plagues at features of interest around the site (smart phone required). The park is bounded by the river Taff on one side and the Dock Feeder canal on the other, which makes for beautiful views across water. Cardiff Castle forms the backdrop at the southen end and to the north you can continue up the Taff Trail towards further parkland along the river corridor. There really is something for everyone within this large park which forms the 'green heart' of Cardiff.
