Campanile Hotel

We stayed at this hotel as it is very close to the Hydro arena. There were 6 disabled parking spaces of which 5 were occupied (4 with no blue badge on display). Access into the hotel was easy with dropped kerbs and level access. Accessible toilet in the reception area. We were allocated room 323 (third floor) apparently all accessible rooms are on upper floors. Had to complete an emergency assistance form on arrival and it was explained that in an emergency evacuation that I would have to remain in the wheelchair refuge point as the lifts would be inoperable. The room was easy to access in my powerchair and had a king sized bed and an additional single bed. There was an emergency pull cord in the room that reached reached the floor. The single bed however made access to the bathroom a bit challenging due to the way the bathroom door opened. I think the single bed had just been added after the room was designed as it was pushed up against the room radiator. There was a very large angled lip at the entrance to the bathroom. It was about 3-4 inch at about 45°. The bathroom was a large tiled wet room (looked very dated) and had a drop rail next to the toilet. There was another emergency pull cord but this one was tied up and knotted at a height of about 4 foot above the floor and would be out of reach following a fall. There was no shower seat so showering for me was not possible. The restaurant is accessible but the tables are a bit close together for trying to get in with a powerchair. The buffet breakfast was a bit challenging to reach from my chair but the staff were very pleasant and were quick to offer assistance. Overall, this hotel is ok.

Everything was good, however the venue is very close to the SECC and the new multi storey car park. There were no events scheduled during our visit so I cannot say how easy it might be to access the hotel if the roads nearby were gridlocked.
