Castle Gardens

This park is located at the very top of a hill and is actually on top of a shopping centre! It’s a very peaceful spot with a great view of the Castle and parts of the city. The pathways are paved with tarmac and are set below the grassy areas which are raised higher than the paved pathways. There are a few seating options throughout the park, benches are placed around the edge of the park and there were some picnic-style benches with umbrellas near the shopping centre entrance. There was also another area with more benches which was off a pathway leading out of the park. This section had graduated stairs up to it where the steps leveled out with the pathway as you went up the hill. There was a small section at the top of the path where the pathway became almost level with the seating area and was the best place for step-free access to this area. The pathways to get into the park can be a bit steep as the park is on quite a tall hill. Once you’re up there though it’s nice and level. This felt really hidden away given where it was located and it was a really lovely spot in a busy part of the city.
