Overview
Visited Chanonry point in the hope of viewing dolphins in the Moray Firth. Chanonry Point is reputed to be the best place on the UK mainland to view bottlenose dolphins. We didn’t see any on this occasion but did view several seals. We visited in the evening, as it seemingly gets very busy during the day. Was able to get right down to the beach with the power chair, via a path, to a decking and picnic area, allowing us a great view of the Firth.
Transport & Parking
We went by car, we followed the brown tourist information road signs, after arriving in Fortrose, but you really need to keep your eyes peeled for them. Small car park with no dedicated accessible spaces
Access
We accessed the beach via a path accessed around the side of the houses beside the lighthouse and carpark. No signage, it was a local resident who approached me and kindly showed me how to access the path, which he said had recently been resurfaced Path not tarmac, and a bit bumpy and uneven in places. Level access to picnic area Seating at picnic area
Toilets
No toilets
Staff
No staff, but the local residents helpful and friendly
