As my local station, I pass through Johnstone Railway Station often. Since it is so close to home, I do not usually have a reason to use the charging facilities here, but I thought I would give them a quick review.

Cables are not provided for this 7 kW charging unit. The machine is not elevated, which is helpful, but there are bollards on either side and a signpost to the right which may create challenges for people using mobility devices. Directly behind the bays is a bus shelter, which limits how much you can open your boot. My charging port is to the rear of the driver’s side, so I need to reverse in. However, if I do that, I cannot open my boot to retrieve my wheelchair. The terminal is low, which is appreciated. It is reachable from a seated height and the card reader on top can also be accessed while seated. However, this does not help with the challenge of navigating around a parked car. The bays are quite wide, as they were repurposed accessible parking spaces, but they are still difficult to recommend. There are no alternative formats in use.

Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance

    Good

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There is no shortage of parking at the station, and it is free, which is a nice feature. There are 13 accessible parking spaces at the station and 410 standard spaces, which is pretty impressive for such a small station. Drop-off points can be found at the front of the station, along with taxis and a bus stop. There are two EV bays and one charging unit next to the bus shelter.

Accessible facilities: Electric Vehicle Charging, Drop-off or pick up point, Dedicated on-site parking

    Accessible Toilets

There is an accessible toilet at the station.
