Johnstone Town Hall is a building of many uses, functioning as a theatre, library, council office, wedding venue and police station. At the rear there are several parking spaces and four public EV bays with CHAdeMO, CCS, and Type 2 charging options

Disabled Access In and Around

Average

There are four public EV charging bays and a few for police vehicles (do not use these). The bays are no wider than standard spaces, presenting the real possibility of being boxed in if other cars are parked alongside . The chargers are not on a plinth – which is great to see. The leftmost charger, which offers 50 kW CHAdeMO and 50 kW CCS charging, has two bollards in front, but they are quite far apart. This means the card reader and cables can be accessed from seated height, unless someone is parked in front of it. The leftmost bay also allows plenty of room to open a door on the left side. The second charger is to the right and provides 20 kW and 7 kW Type 2 charging, but cables are not provided. The card reader is set high and, depending on other cars being parked in front, may be hard to reach from a seated height. Each charging port is under a metal flap that must be raised manually. There are no alternative formats in use at this location.

The car park to the rear has plenty of spaces but no accessible parking spaces. If you're only popping into the town hall there are 7 accessible parking spaces near the main entrance, but the rear car park leaves a lot to be desired. Signage is also poor.
