I have experience of challenges around: moving around

    Excellent

I came in to the salon first to book an appointment and was given a tour of the salon to make sure I was comfortable with the access. Great experience and look forward to going back.

    Disabled Access In and Around

There are two large doors to get in and a small three inch lip to go over but they can bring out small rubber ramps to make access more flush. I managed without in a powerchair. The receptionist helped with doors. There is a low counter area for you to put your bag on and the card machine is wireless. The salon chairs at the mirrors can be pushed aside so I was able to stay in my chair for treatment. At the mirrors there is a small shelf where you charge your phone, place your bag etc. At the sinks the chairs cannot be moved but they have wide and fixed arms so I could transfer easily. The accessible toilet is to the left of the sink area.

    Parking & Transport

    Good

I came by bus and it is level access from the bus stop to the store. Parking situation unknown as it is quite a busy street with a small Tesco next door.

    Accessible Toilets

The toilet is to the left of the sink area. It does not have a wheelchair symbol on the door but I found it to be very accessible. There is a pulldown handrail on one side and a horizontal grab rail on the wall. There is a red cord on the left hand side of the toilet as you're sitting, however it does not completely touch the floor. There is space under the sink to roll under and two vertical handrails on either side of the mirror.

All staff I met were lovely. Rachel did my hair and she was great making sure I was comfortable and helping with transferring and putting my jacket on.

    Additional Information

They offer complimentary refreshments and the atmosphere in general is really lovely! There are other Charlie Miller salons in Edinburgh but do not know access information.
