    Chiltern Open Air Museum

    About

Chiltern Open Air Museum is a 45 acre outdoor museum that has over 30 rescued historic buildings that have been reconstructed onsite. The buildings were the homes or workplaces of ordinary people from around the Chilterns and include a Victorian Toll House, Blacksmith's forge, tin chapel, replica Iron Age roundhouse and 1940s prefab. There is also a working historic farm that has sheep, goats, cows, heavy horses and chickens. The Museum holds over 25 special family friendly re-enactment living history events each year including Ragged Victorians, Tudor Times and Roman Gladiators, and every Tuesday during Bucks school holidays is a Terrific Tuesday, these are special themed family activity and craft days organised by the Museum's education team. The site is a popular filming location and has been used for filming well known television dramas including Downton Abbey, Grantchester, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, Call the Midwife, Midsomer Murders, Horrible Histories and many more.
