    About

Discover the stories hidden beneath the streets of Westminster in Churchill War Rooms. The original Cabinet War Rooms protected the staff and secrets at the heart of Britain’s government during the Second World War and it was here that Churchill and his inner circle plotted the route to victory. Today you can walk the maze of rooms and corridors which have remained as they were when the lights were turned off in 1945.

Cabinet War Rooms: Hard work but worth it

We booked ahead and took note of their recommendation to go from 3PM. No queue, friendly greeting, and whisked in to the lift. Pretty busy even at this time. Used the electric chair as far as the mid-tour cafe. Although access for the chair was OK, didn't feel I was getting enough of the experience so abandoned the chair in the cafe with the help of the friendly staff and used my sticks and carer's support for the rest; a much better experience. Towards the end of the tour, a very friendly and helpful staff member went and fetched my chair for me; great service.

    Historical immersion made real

Great visit to the scene of WW2 war cabinet offices and rooms under Whitehall. Could spend a whole day if you read and watched everything. A great audioguide lead you round and really brought it to life. Free for a carer and reduced for disabled.

    Fascinating historical bunker!

I've tried to visit this a few times before but there are always massive queues. This time we made a determined effort to get there as soon as the doors opened! You can visit at your own pace with an informative audio guide and you could spend hours and hours learning about what went on there during WW2.
