Overview

A short trip out from Edinburgh, LRT bus 26 takes about an hour and walking back from Seton Sands, Cockenzie House makes a useful coffee stop. Weds to Sun Saltire Grill provides a kiosk for refreshments in the house gardens. Picnic seats and tables are well spaced out in on the lawn and orchard and you can visit the pond and allotments. Sadly not toilet facilities in this early stage of lockdown easing. A nice sunny corner in the John Muir Way.

Transport & Parking

I travelled on the 26 bus which stops close by. There is some on-street parking beside the walled garden but no accessible parking marked. I visited at 11am before it was too busy on this sunny morning.

Access

Accessible from the main gate, tea area on the grass, path through the garden is a little uneven but no step.

Toilets

No toilet facilities due to Covid restrictions at this point.

Staff

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Well laid out picnic tables and folding chairs, park benches around the garden. Looks like some new ones provided this year. Refreshment van visiting, presumably until the cafe can re-open.
