Corkerhill railway station has only one platform from which both trains to Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal go. I was pleased to find that it is one of the few stations in the area that actually has decent access. It is the nearest station to the Cardonald campus of Glasgow Clyde College and the sports pitches at Nethercraigs. While I was at first a bit annoyed about having to go up a long incline to then go down a long ramp again, I later discovered that there was a level path, which made access a lot easier.
Disabled Access In and Around
The single platform is accessible via two step free routes and stairs. The most obvious access is from the road bridge, which involves a long incline. The station sign is on the bridge at the top of the stairs. The ramp starts a little downhill from the station sign. My recommendation for level, step-free access is via Aros Drive and Aros Lane. Aros Lane is mostly smooth tarmac and connects to a well-maintained brick path with handholds on either side that leads to the platform. The ramp is a long, fairly gentle slope downwards from Corkerhill Road. The brick paving is in good condition and the patterns alter slightly between sloped and level parts. It has handrails on both sides. The stairs have 12 + 7 steps down from the bridge, There are no tactile markings and the contrast markings are almost completely worn away. There are railings at different heights on both sides. The path at the bottom of the stairs continues to slope downwards and meet the ramp. It has railings on both sides. There are sheltered bike racks where the ramp and path meet the platform. A large shelter with wall-mounted rests is just behind it. I hesitate to call these benches or even seating since they are just narrow bits of metal at an angle that you would slide down if you tried to sit on them. So luckily there is another bench with backrests and armrests between the seats just past the shelter. There are orange on black digital signs overhead with the time and train information. The platform is a mix of level brick and asphalt with tactile markings a foot from the edge that contrast with the asphalt but not the brick paving. I find the platform a bit narrower than I am used to.

My recommendation for level, step-free access is via Aros Drive and Aros Lane. Aros Drive does not connect to Corkerhill Road for cars, but there is a footpath, so you can park or get dropped off at the main road, which is about a 100-metre level walk or wheel to the platform. If you drive to Aros Lane, you can get dropped off within 20 metres of the platform. Street parking on Aros drive is about 60 metres from the platform. The closest bus stops are uphill from the station on Corkerhill Road: Nethercraigs Sports Complex (10, 25, 49, 153) 0.1-0.2-mile/3-4-minute walk or wheel depending on the direction the bus is going. To avoid the incline, you can use the following bus stops: Arisaig Drive (10, 49, 124, 153) on Corkerhill Road 0.2-mile/5-minute walk or wheel Aviemore Road bus stop (59) on Mosspark Drive 0.2-mile/5-minute walk or wheel
