Venue Description

Set along the banks of the River Clyde and surrounded by stunning parkland, the Birthplace Museum invites you to follow Livingstone’s journey from Blantyre to Africa through our new interactive exhibition. Surrounded by 26 acres of parkland there are paths to follow and seating within the grounds to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Children are encouraged to 'set sail' on our wonderful playground, inspired by Livingstone’s voyages, and explore the grounds using our trails.

We have assisted door opening into reception area. We have a loop system at reception. There is a lift at one side of the building and a platform lift in the middle floor. We have a Changing Places. Our cafe is fully accessible.

There is a toilet for disabled visitors in the museum and in the cafe area. We also have a Changing Places toilet within the grounds so no need to enter the buildings.
