I am a disabled person and a carer or friend of a disabled person and a general supporter of disabled access. I have experience of challenges around: a hidden impairment, accessing toilets, dexterity or coordination and moving around.

A fantastic venue for live music with excellent views from the accesible platform and a brilliant team of staff.

There is a very large entrance to the venue and after the event has finished the staff open the shutters so that the crowds can disperse more efficiently. Upon waiting to enter, there is a seperate queue for people with accessibility needs. I had not applied for this in time, however the lady in charge made sure that I was given a space on the accessible viewing platform and gave us a short tour of where to find the disabled toilets, bar, food vendors and merchandise stalls.

The venue itself is located in an industrial estate and I had accomodation in the area for the event, so I wheeled myself to the venue with assistance. There is some on-street parking, however this is very, very limited and with such a large capacity venue it will be difficult to secure a parking spot. There are links to bus services and a train station some distance away.

I was only made aware of one disabled toilet and this was a portaloo that was located on the outside of the building which is only accessed via the smoking area doors. There are two sets of double doors which are closed and you will need assistance to navigate through these as they are heavy and awkward to use if you are solo. Once you have past these, there is a short but steep ramp with steps a very short distance from the bottom of the ramp that you will have to wheel down (very carefully) to then get to the portaloo. Unfortunately, the door wouldn't lock properly from the inside and I had to rely on my companions to ensure I was not interrupted. There are other toilets inside that are accessible by and even steeper ramp, however if you require transfer space, grab rails or space to maneouver a wheel/power chair, this will not be possible. There were no red emergency cords in place throughout the venue.

Staff were absolutely fantastic and more than informative. I was given a short tour by one lady who pointed out everything that I could need to know. My medication isn't very well known and after emailing in advance about this, a place to administer was given after medication checks by on-site medics and I.D. verification. I had to leave the venue 15 minutes before the end of the event and one of the organisers noticed this upon leaving the accesibility platform. As it was a sold out event, the gentleman ran in front of me the entire distance to the exit to ensure I could leave without any hindrance whatsoever. Incredible hospitality from any and all staff encountered at this venue.
