Overview

Dreamery gardens near York is a stunning nature park full of things to see from fairy doors to hobgoblin houses to dragon nests. It's full of fascinating lore and its absolutely beautiful and full of whimsy. There is a decent amount of parking but only 1 disabled bay. I've visited once before and mobilised with a walking stick and found it relatively accessible. There's not many places to sit, and of course, being a natural place, the ground is uneven. If you can use a walking stick and manage to walk the full area, it is quite accessible. However, today I visited and I am using a wheelchair currently. Unfortunately it was a very difficult day for me. It is very natural so there are some tree roots, rocky sections and the paths are extremely uneven, tipping one way or another at times with random dips. I could not self-propel for pretty much any of it, and my partner struggled due to the unevenness. The maze is inaccessible due to living trees within it. I did visit this my previous time and it was even difficult with a stick. The beauty of the place is fantastic and I loved being there, but it is not good for people in wheelchairs. The cafe is lovely and the staff were all very kind. There are 3 toilets, two outside with steps to go in and one inside the cafe. It does have grab bars but no red cord. There was a bin by the sink that made it very tricky to get into and I struggled to turn my chair around in the space. It really is a beautiful, fascinating place to visit, but I would only ever go on a day where I can walk fair distances with a walking stick.
