Overview
We went to East links for a family day out and was really pleasantly surprised at how accessible everything was for our young adult who uses a manual wheelchair (with power pack). The website gave good information and on arrival everything was explained really clearly During the day it was great that so many of the activities had an accessible option The train that runs around the park has a wheelchair accessible carriage at the back which the staff attached a ramp onto for us to access with no issue at all The duck racing path was easily accessible as where all of the animal barns that had ramped access The play fort had a clearly marked wheelchair route up to the top of the play fort which was great and so nice to see There was an option for powered karts to take you around the animals if you have mobility options but as YA unable to transfer without hoist we stayed in wheelchair and made our own way around the animals and fed them There were some challenges in places where the shingle was a bit deeper and looser and the turnstiles at the cafe and the busy cafe in general was difficult to navigate but otherwise it was a really great and accessible day out It doesn’t offer a free carers ticket but a reduced price Plenty parking right out the front
