Easterhouse Railway Station is a small but reasonably accessible station, though it's let down by limited opening hours at the ticket office. The station has regular servies to Glasgow Queen Street Low Level, Balloch and Helensburgh Central from platform one. Platform two offers services to Airdrie, Bathgate and Edinburgh Waverley.

If you come to the station on foot from Easterhouse Road, you have two choices. There are steps leading down to the platforms, and every step has a yellow edge that stands out really clearly. There are handrails on both sides that contrast well against the white walls, which makes the route feel a bit safer. If you prefer to avoid steps, there is also a long descending ramp that takes you down to platform two. From the same road, the path slopes down towards the car park near platform one, which offers a step free route to that platform. Each platform has tactile paving along the edge, with white paint marking the drop. On platform one, there are six metal seats, ramps available, and a ticket machine. Platform two also has seating and a rain shelter, giving a similar level of comfort while waiting. Overhead signage is clear, with platform numbers, departure screens, and clearly marked assistance points on both platforms. Audio announcements are used, and there is a hearing loop. Through the ticket office window, I could see a walking stick holder, a height adjustable counter, and a sign indicating a hearing loop. There are seats inside for anyone waiting, although entry depends on the office being open.

There is a small car park at platform one near the ticket office, with two accessible parking spaces, 75 standard spaces and two EV spaces. There are two 7 kW Type 2 chargers at the station, but the bays are no wider than a standard parking space and the charging unit is on a kerb on a plinth and surrounded by a perimeter rail, which makes them very difficult to use as a wheelchair user or as someone with limited mobility. The bay width also creates a risk of being blocked in, either by cars parked in the standard spaces or by another vehicle charging. There is a single bus service that runs to the station, stopping on Easterhouse Road. The 310 runs roughly on the hour.

Staff

There were no staff at the station during my visit. I only learned this after trying to accesss the ticket office and seeing a sign on the window advising that the orrice is currently open from 06:30-11:30 Monday to Thursday, 06:30-12:00 on Fridays, 08:45-16:00 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. I'm unable to rate the staff, due to their absence but I am disappointed at the restricted hours as it prevents disabled people from requesting assistance at the station - although the help points on the platform can be used.
