I am a lifelong crafter and I love all things cute, pretty and extraordinary. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon Fabrication Crafts, a space bringing together the works of dozens of local crafters and artists. There is even a shelf for people to offer some of their craft materials for sale and they host “destash” weekends where crafters can swap surplus materials. What a great idea! I fell absolutely in love with one artist’s display and had a hard time reining in my purchases, but I did not have a bad conscience at all, knowing that I was supporting an independent artist and not a faceless corporation driven by mass-production.

The doors are non-automatic double doors opening to the inside. They were propped open when I was visiting. The flooring right by the doors is linoleum and there is a slight edge down to the rest of the shop, which has smooth concrete flooring. The edge is marked with yellow and black striped tape. The walkways are wide enough for my powerchair (62 cm) and I had plenty of space to the sides. The displays are on open shelves and I was able to see everything but the top shelves well from a seated position. The counter is not very wide and opens into the room, so it is easy to interact with the staff at the till. There is a separate area upstairs, which as I understand does not contain any more of the shop.

    Parking & Transport

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

The closest bus stops are on The Headrow (22, 23, 25, 27, 28, 42, X6, X84, 72 Pulse). Leeds bus station is a 8-minute/0.3-mile walk or wheel and the train station is a 12-minute/0.5-mile walk or wheel away. There is not really any on-street parking in the area. If you are travelling by car, your best bet would be the paid multi-storey car parks in the area, for example the closest of which are probably The Core, Victoria or Albion Street.

    Accessible Toilets

There might be toilets upstairs, but if I do not think there are any accessible toilets/a bathroom on the ground floor.

The staff were very nice and helpful, letting me take my time to look around but also asking if there was anything they could help me with.
