A window on Fife’s past, Fife Folk Museum in the village of Ceres, offers an interesting and entertaining day out for all the family with activities for all ages.The museum is housed in a range of older buildings including former weavers cottages, the old weigh-house and the tolbooth. The new Visitor Centre opened in April 2014 forms the main entrance to the Museum, an easy stroll from the car park via the footbridge and with disabled access. Once inside, visitors find the Reception Desk, the Museum Shop offering attractive gifts and souvenirs and the Weigh House Tearoom. Its varied and delicious menu provides a chance before or after a Museum tour to relax and enjoy the view out to the Bishop’s Bridge and Ceres Burn. Fife Folk Museum is managed by the Board of Trustees, with professional advice provided by the Museum Mentor and supported by a pool of 40-50 volunteers who staff the Museum during opening hours, and help behind the scenes with documentation, conservation, education, and publicity.

Disabled Access at Fife Folk Museum

Because of the nature of the historic buildings housing the museum, not all areas are fully accessible. However, there is wheelchair access to most areas but some areas have different floor levels and are accessed by steps and stairs. Some areas can be accessed by leaving the building by one door and re-entering by the next door ( these are old weavers cottages, so not all on the one level) The main door to the museum is wide and the tearoom and toilets, one of which is suitable for wheelchair use, are in this area. The tea room is easily accessible for those using wheelchairs. There is a ramp outside the museum giving access to the gardens, the bridge to the main car park and to the street behind the museum where the disabled parking space is situated. Accessible parking at Fife Folk Museum

There is a disabled parking space adjacent to the main museum building. Opposite the museum there is a large public car park with access to the museum across a wooden bridge. There is a paved ramp from there through the museum garden which gives access to the museum’s visitor centre.
