Overview

The whole venue is wheelchair accessible, every stage has a wheelchair accessible option. An informative and fascinating place to visit. Whether you have and active interest in aircraft or naval history or not. There is a lovely viewing gallery where you can sit and watch the active airfield if you find the whole thing is tiring. Adjecent to it is a nice cafe, serving good food and good portions!

Transport & Parking

5

Flat tarmac parking with a good amount of disabled parking bays. The museum is also accessible by public transport. This is from their website: The Museum is accesible via rail and public transport: - Visitors are advised to access mainline routes to Yeovil Pen Mill, Yeovil Junction or Castle Cary stations. A round trip from Yeovil Pen Mill station by taxi should cost around £35 - £40. We recommend that you book your return taxi in advance on the day of your visit, as the lead time for local taxis in the afternoon can vary greatly and could contribute to a lengthy delay.

Access

There is a special side entrance to get to the museum for wheeled visitors. There is a lift to the floors where there are no ramps. Even though you miss the main shop, by going through the side enterance. There is a lift and then a ramp into the shop. There is a carrier experience within the museum, this is well worth a visit and last about 40 minutes. Even this is accessible for wheelchairs. This is done through ‘bomb lifts’ which is quite a nice way of getting around access whilst keeping in character.

Toilets

5

There are plenty of disabled access toilets through the whole museum all with good acccess.

Staff

Friendly helpful staff, who are willing to assist in any way they can.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There are some loud noises and a vibrating ‘helicopter’ lift to the carrier experience. This can be bypassed if this makes you feel uncomfortable. A really well thought out museum.
