Venue Description

Forests Art Centre offers a varied program of theatre, cinema and music. In addition sessional classes and one off workshops are available for children, adults and those with additional needs. Why not come and view the latest exhibition in our gallery or meet a friend for a cup of coffee in our light café/bar?

Accessibility

The Forest Arts Centre has automatic electric doors accessed via a ramp or small step with a rail from the main car park. The venue is at ground level with all areas accessible. The theatre seating is raked although there is some at ground level and it is removable for wheelchairs. The workshop rooms are all at ground level as is the disabled toilet. The bar has a lowered bar for wheelchair accessibility. There is an induction loop for those with hearing aids and our afternoon film showings are all subtitles. Registered assistance dogs are welcome.

Accessible Performances

All afternoon film showings are subtitled. Signed and audio described performances are one off events.

Toilets

The disabled toilets are at ground level with a door wide enough to provide access for wheelchair users. There are grab rails both sides of the toilet and the tap on the sink has a lever to make it easier to use. There is an alarm cord by the toilet which rings in the main office should the user require assistance.

Staff

The staff at Forest Arts Centre are welcoming and always happy to help anyone with additional needs. The Duty Manager and other staff are first aid trained. At theatre and cinema performances an usher is designated to assist anyone with additional needs should there be the need to evacuate the building.

Assistance dogs can be exercised on the lead at the rear of the Arts Centre in our green space community allotment. The nearest off lead exercise area would be at New Milton recreation park - approximately a 10 minute walk.
