    Friendly and Helpful

Driving east along the seafront at Milford-on-Sea, at the end of the road is the Lighthouse Restaurant. At first glance you might wonder whether it is wheelchair-accessible, but move around to the side of the building where the main entrance is and you will find a flat entrance through a nice wide door into the well-lit restaurant. There are both inside and outside seating areas, although we didn't go outside so I cannot guarantee that the outside is accessible. The menu leans towards seafood, although it is not exclusively so. There is free parking, although it tends to fill up at busy times, and dogs are accepted. There is an accessible toilet at the end of a narrow corridor (Why do they do that? Able-bodied people go through the outer door and directly into the toilet, but the poor wheelchair-user has to go through the outer (spring-loaded) door, turn through 90 degrees, go down the narrow corridor then turn 90 degrees again through another spring-loaded door into the toilet/baby-change). Once in the toilet, it is reasonably spacious and has adequate supports. At the time of our visit, the clasp on the baby-change unit was broken meaning that the baby-change table would not stay closed - and the permanently open table intruded into the space in front of the toilet. This makes access very difficult as it is not possible to self-propel in a wheelchair while simultaneously holding the baby-change table out of the way. The need to get this fixed quickly. For that reason alone I give it 4 stars rather than 5.
