Good

Located at the end of the line, just next to the ferry terminal, Gourock Railway Station is a small two platform station that forms part of a wider transport hub providing rail routes to Glasgow and ferry crossings to Dunoon. There is a promenade, which is visible from the platforms, that offers views out to the firth and makes this an especially scenic location. This was my first time visiting and I was quite impressed, although I do wish there was an accessible toilet, or indeed any toilet, at the station.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

Access around the station is generally good. There are automatic sliding doors at the entrance, with plenty of seats in the main foyer and a ticket office. The office counter is height adjustable and has a hearing loop. Hearing loops are also available on the platforms. Departure information is provided on screens and overhead dot matrix signage, and audio announcements are made regularly. There is level access between the platforms and, while some areas are exposed, there are rain shelters with bench style seating. Passenger assistance points are clearly signposted on both platforms and help points are available on each one, providing departure information and a way to contact staff in an emergency. Each platform has tactile markings at the edge.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There are over 100 parking spaces in the nearby car park, with seven accessible spaces that have hatched markings to the left, right and rear of the bays. There are two EV bays close to the accessible parking spaces that are far from accessible, along with four EV bays near the entrance that do not fare much better. At the station, you will find bus stops and plenty of taxis waiting, although I did not see any accessible taxis during my visit. Gourock Ferry Terminal is right next door to the station.

Accessible Toilets

Three are no loos in the station building, however there is an accessible toilet at the ferry terminal, and public toilets acrosss the station car park.
