    Good

I was staying in the neighbouring Premier Inn and fancied popping out to somewhere local for a bite to eat and happened upon Grain & Grill. Grain & Grill is the collective name for the on-site restaurants of the Maldron hotel chain. The food is good enough for a hungry traveller like me and the environment is light, open and welcoming. It also has an accessible toilet. I initially tried to enter through the front door to the restaurant, but it was closed, which meant the only way to access the restaurant was through the front doors of the Maldron. Thankfully these were automatic and allowed me to make my way through. I chose to order at the bar but you can also order via the QR codes on each table. I had the Korean chicken burger and it definitely hit the spot.

There are automatic doors at the entrance to the hotel, and the restaurant can be found through the doors to the left. The restaurant is quite spacious, and allows visitors to order at their table. There are a variety of seating options from soft chairs, padded benches and high stools at the bar. There is no signage but the layout was clearly defined between seating and service areas. There are no alternative formats in use.

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

I arrived in my wheelchair but I noticed that there are two bus stops just outside the venue on either side of the road, and Finsbury Park Underground is a short 65 metres away. This station has step free access and lifts. You might get lucky with a space on Coleridge Road but there are no designated accessible parking spaces.

    Accessible Toilets

There is a spacious accessible toilet on site, which I would certainly have scored higher if the red cord was not too short. The door to the toilet corridor opens outwards, as does the door to the toilet, and it does not require a RADAR key to access. The toilet pan is on the rear wall and has plenty of space for a left-side transfer. The red cord is in the transfer space. There are silver rails on either side of the loo, which contrast well against the dark blue walls. The flush is not on the side of the transfer space, which may make it difficult for some people to reach. The small sink has a long lever-style tap, silver rails on either side and a large mirror. In all, not the worst loo I've seen but that red cord needs immediate attention.
