Overview

We had an excellent stay at this park, definitely one of the jewels in the crown of Parkdean. It was a last-minute booking, due to a shelved holiday earlier in the year at another park. Due to that, we were unable to book a wheelchair friendly caravan. However, I called ahead of time to request that we were placed at least near to the main hub. The lady I spoke to was very friendly but advised that this could not be guaranteed. However, on arrival, we had been allocated a different (though similar level) model of van to what we had booked, and it was less than 3 minutes walk/roll to the reception, shop and bar. We were in The Views, caravan number N42. Our caravan was modern, well laid out and, above all, clean. Internally, it was spacious, and I could use my zimmer easily, though with a bit of judicious manoeuvring in the bedroom corridor. The steps outside had rails on both sides, which made getting in and out a breeze, so big thanks to whoever allocated us. We could also park right outside the van, which is a massive bonus compared to some parks. The equipment supplied was great. If I were to force in a quibble, it would be that there was no DVD player and, in this day and age, the TV wasn't ethernet connected for at least iPlayer and Freeview catchup. Mobile reception here is very poor, but the free WiFi is more than enough for email and socials. On the other hand, you don't come here to slob on the sofa and stare at screens. The shop is well-stocked but, as with other parks, on the expensive side. We did most of our shopping in the Lidl in Tain. It's fine for that forgotten bag of sugar, though. The entertainment hub is great in both the bar and showbar. We didn't eat but drinks prices are comparable to other Parkdean sites. The park itself is directly on the beach with great views and the surrounding area is stunning.

Transport & Parking

5

Our caravan had parking right at the door. There are a a couple of dedicated disabled spaces outside the reception/entertainment hub.

Access

3.5

The whole entertainment hub is wheelchair accessible, although not easily without help as there are some narrow corridors and heavy doors between different areas of the complex. As I said, we booked late and couldn't get a wheelchair friendly caravan but we were allocated a "Kinord" which had a verandah with rails on either side of the steps, which I am able to use. Once inside, it was spacious enough to use my zimmer, though the bedroom corridor was a bit narrow. I took a urinal and also used the disabled toilet in reception as required. The park itself is mostly flat and easily negotiated.

Toilets

3

Unfortunately, there is only one disabled toilet in the entire entertainment complex, next to reception. It is quite cramped to be honest but there is the standard setup of grab rails.

Staff

All reception, bar and security staff, without exception, were friendly, understanding and extremely helpful.
