Overview

The Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds is famed for boasting the oldest continuously-used building in the UK and also a World War Two Observer Corps Control Centre – the only surviving room of its kind in the world. Extensive renovation in 2018 has resulted in a fascinating building, with both floors and the sensory garden fully accessible, thanks to a huge Lottery grant.

Transport & Parking

3.5

Situated in the medieval historic core of the town's grid system, parking is limited, biut there are disabled parking spaces nearby and a long parking bay in the street. A littel further away there is parking in the town's market square (except on Wednesdays and Saturdays which are market days), parking bays on Angel Hill and a littel further away, the arc shopping centre car park. The town is accessible by bus and train, although the train station is a distance away from the venue.

Access

5

Extraordinary lengths have been gione to to make this ancient building accessible to all. Most of the access is level, and there is a lift to the first floor. Displays are placed at convenient heights and the interactive information is also very accessible. The volunteer staff are extremely helpful. There is seating and a tea room. Worth checking out their website in advance https://burystedmundsguildhall.org.uk/

Toilets
