Overview

Best fishing venue so far we've been to for accommodation and fishing. Very accommodating hosts. Lodge is wheelchair friendly. Wet room and low level sink. Well worth looking at their web site which gives details of their access statement: http://www.higherkingcombelodge.co.uk/accommodation/ Quality fishing from 8 spring fed lakes.

Plenty of parking room on tarmacked car park

Access

All rooms and dining room are wheelchair friendly with ramp access from the carpark. Good sized room. There is a small seating area which is up a few steps and had a hand rail. I found the settees too low and had to have help getting out of them.

Toilets

We were the only couple staying that week so we had the room with the wet room. Very good sized wet room with space for a carer / wheelchair access. The powerful hot shower with handrail. 2 sinks, one low level for wheelchair users. Normal height toilet with grab rails. The owners have a shower wheelchair that can be used. There is a toilet next to the dining room.

Very accommodating hosts, friendly and made us feel very much at home. Andrea cooked us 2 meals during the week and even went out to get us a takeaway one evening. Gave us good information about the surrounding area and places to eat.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

An excellent breakfast with fresh eggs from the free range hens. Were able make use of the kitchen, there is a water heater for hot drinks. We were invited to make use of the laundry facilities. 8 spring fed lakes with quality fish. Small car park towards the bottom of the valley is next to a fishing lake which we used. Top lake has a grassy slope down to hard standings but is used by the Dorset angling club and allow only 2 guest anglers on it from the Lodge. Day ticket lakes have grassy banks only no hard standings. I am guessing (as non wheelchair user) that the lakes would be difficult for wheelchair access. We have booked up for next year!
