Overview

This is a Garden centre in a beautiful location and as we were the only people there at the time, it had a magical, ethereal atmosphere as we wandered around. We visited at a very quiet time, out of season but there was still plenty of lovely colours and shapes to admire in the gardens and unexpected delights hidden in corners. It helped that the sky and the light were gorgeous too. The staff member was very helpful and friendly and left us to meander until we needed her; she directed us to the most accessible pathways and there were ramps into buildings where needed. She didn't know, but we were choosing items as a memorial for someone and she made the experience uplifting and less painful than it might have been.

Transport & Parking

We've had to give a low score here as there aren't buses directly to here and it is a fair bit out of the nearest village bus stop, so unless you have a car, it would probably not be viable. The parking itself however, was fine with plenty of space and in the actual venue.

Access

I was able to access all of the venue despite some more gravelly, bumpy paths here and there; there are ramps where needed. The shop has a wide accessible sliding door and ramp which might be a slight problem to open if you are on your own but the staff will help open it for you if you can't reach it. The shop is mostly accessible apart from the back but the staff offered to move the displays around to help me access it. There is also a lovely warm stove which gives it a really cosy and welcoming feeling, unlike the larger garden centre chains. I was able to wander amongst the plants quite easily and I had a good view of the selection; sometimes this is hard for me in other garden centres.

Toilets

They don't have one! Having said that, able-bodied customers have to use staff toilets and they aren't great for staff and customers either but the staff member we spoke to was hoping that was going to change soon.

Staff

She couldn't have done any more to help us or make us feel welcome; she also let us wander about and take our time while she worked amongst the plants which made you feel even closer to nature and as if you were in a working, living garden rather than a big shop.

Overall, it was a warm, personal experience and I'd highly recommend it if you are able to go; I plan to return soon!
