A complete pain, from start to finish!

I am a disabled person and a carer or friend of a disabled person and a general supporter of disabled access. I have experience of challenges around: a hidden impairment, accessing toilets, dexterity or coordination and moving around.

Accessibility at High Street Carpark, Swansea is an absolute joke! There are disabled parking spaces and an open-air accessible lift from one floor of the carpark to another, but that's as far as accessibility goes in this place.

Upon entering the carpark there is a stairway with an incredibly narrow door way (I had to get out of my wheelchair and fold it just to fit through the doors) that leads to an internal lift (this only opens on alternate floors, so you either have to walk down/up the stairs or use the ramps (for car use) inside the carpark to gain access to the levels in-between. At the entrance of every single doorway, there is a wide, deep drainage ditch that wheelchair castors will undoubtedly get stuck in, this is the same for the bottom and top of every ramp. I got caught in a ditch after having to use a car ramp and almost projectile launched myself from my wheelchair.

I travelled to this place by train
As the Car Boot Sale is located within High Street Carpark, it has numerous disabled parking spaces alongside general and parent & child spaces available. Swansea train station is located directly next door to the carpark itself and as such is very easy to access on foot. There is a slightly declined pathway to the last-but-one level of the carpark where disabled spaces are located. There is an open-air accessibility lift located on this floor that leads to the level above it only. Nearby are links to public bus services and a taxi rank. These are located opposite and directly outside of the train station.

Accessible Toilets
There are portaloos located outside on the pavement next to the lower-level carpark entrance, however I did not notice a disabled portaloo.
Staff
I did not see any staff at the event, only stall holders.
