Disabled Travellers second visit to this delightful hotel

Overview

On our first visit, which we really enjoyed, (REVIEWED) refurbishment work was being carried out, so we returned to see what had been done, and very pleased about the efforts made, and we are still very impressed with this smallish but pleasant hotel. It has a large car park with disabled bay available reasonably close to the entrance (photo 1) not pleasant if raining, but a small pleasant entrance calls you forward (photo 2) mind the old chap ! and you enter an open reception area, very inviting (photo 3) and a decent hot coffee will be served (photo 4) so we settled back and rested awhile, so please join us (photo 5). This is a small compact hotel, very clean and well maintained, with comfortable seating areas (photo 6) and you can bounce along into the restaurant bar area (photo 7) which has a nice relaxed feel about it (photo 8) with a beautiful wooden tiled floor area with enough space for wheelchairs to find a spot to be placed (photo 9). It faces out towards the gardens, with natural lighting offering lovely views (photo 10) and a door will allow you exit onto the terraced area (photo 11). Unfortunately there are steps required to get down onto the path that leads towards the gardens, but you can get a nice view to the right towards many bedrooms (photo 12) one which will be the accessible room. As Solihull is in its own right a very nice Little town to go and visit, and with many places of interest around here, and quite close, you may decide to use this hote as your base for an overnight stay, and we would certainly recommend that for you, so let’s see what the room is like. As the accessible room is on the lower floor, a Stannah lift stands next to reception desk (photo 13) which is large enough for most chairs (photo 14) although carer may have to wait for its return to join you, which is controlled by holding the button down while lift moves (photo 15) and then via a pull push doorway you enter a very attractive clean and nicely decorated passage ((photo 16) refurbished summer 2022. Towards the far end of passage you will enter the accessible room (photo 17) which in our opinion is very nicely decorated in pale natural colours adding much appeal to the rooms (photo 18) and spacious enough to make your stay here very pleasant (photo 19) with its own walk in shower and bathroom (photo 20). All the staff are very friendly and supportive, and will look after you, the whole hotel has a charm of its own, the restaurant is spotless and provides a very easy and delightful menu, and comfortable to allow a very pleasant evening of dining and relaxation. We highly recommend this hotel, even if one or two things could be done to improve accessible use, such as garden areas, and disabled bays being a little closer to main entrance, but this is just being picky really, so please, enjoy your visit here.

Transport & Parking

A pleasant drive to reach the hotel, and a large enough car park awaits you.

Access

The disabled bay is quite close to entrance, but would be uninviting if raining, so could do with being closer, somehow ? The entry into hotel is level, and as this is a compact little hotel, it’s easy enough to get around. Pick a nice spot to place your wheelchair, it’s a little tight in places, and a lift is provided for use of toilets, which is on the lower floor. The accessible room is smashing, with enough room for your chair.

Toilets

It’s on the lower floor, so lift will be needed, but then it is very clean and well maintained. (REVIEWED FOR YOU ON OUR FIRST VISIT) Please read this review.
