Hovertravel provides the fastest Isle Of Wight ferry service across the Solent and is the world's longest running and only commercial hovercraft operator in Europe. Started in 1965, our passenger ferry service takes you directly to the shore at Southsea or Ryde in just 10 minutes. Onward travel connections are available with National Express and Hover Bus connecting both Portsmouth & Southsea & Portsmouth Harbour rail stations.

great service lots of fun

Great experience, from booking on the fone with kya who was so helpful to travelling and the assistance i got i was so happy thank you so much. only down side was the ramp was very steep and i struggled until a staff member saw i needed help otherwise would have been a 5 if they had done that first of all

Solent crossing

Went to Hovertravels disabled access day today. 'Try before you fly'. All staff at the event were brilliant. Welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely patient and helpful.

Disabled Access at Hovertravel

Ryde & Southsea Terminal's : Terminal's both have ramp access and on a ground level, where staff are able to assist if required. Drop off zones are directly outside, along with a taxi rank outside the arrival/dept area. Services and assistance are also available for those with sight or/and hearing issues. Both terminals feature speakers and PA systems to help communicate information for those who suffer from sight related issues. Digital screens in the terminals and directional signs have been installed to help those hard of hearing to travel with us as easily as possible. Additionally all our staff are fully trained to assist passengers with reduced mobility. Hovercraft : On-board both our 78 seater hovercraft we offer audio and visual communications, and our fully trained staff are on hand to help. Access to the hovercraft is via a ramp or steps (3), with and rails on both. Wide aisles on-board assist with the boarding process, as well as allocated seating for those who have reduced mobility. Safety videos with audio, subtitles and a deaf signer are shown before each crossing. Our hovercraft can accommodate one wheelchair per crossing, these are allocated on a first come first basis or you may reserve your space by contacting our HoverCare line (01983 717700).

Both Ryde & Southsea terminals have a changing Places Toilet and pull cord alarm systems.

Changing Places toilet

There is a Changing Places toilet, which includes an adult-size changing bench, toilet, sink and hoist.

Accessible toilet

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
