Overview

This was a delightful little hotel, I was concerned that with the advertised "very small rooms" the access could be challenging, but I found more maneouvring space in this room than in many a standard hotel room. The room was bright and modern with a lovely panel where you could operate the TV, lights and heat. The heating didn't seem to be entirely functional, the higher I turned the heating, the colder it got! The panel was well lit but is entirely flat touch screen. You can also download a phone app to control the room in more detail, so you could use this with accessibility features, and this worked well. There was plenty of space to move around the room in my wheelchair. Beds were quite low and there's no foot space under the beds, they are box beds right to the floor, so it's hard to get close to the bed to give assistance. Bathroom very large with adequate rails, fixed wall-mounted shower seat and wet room format, with curtainsto both sides to allow PA access but also keep water controlled. Temperature easily controlled, plenty of water pressure, a thoroughly enjoyable shower. Emergency pull cords situated at toilet, shower and bedside. Socket available by the bed to charge electronics, socket at the wall to charge mobility equipment. There was free buffet food and hot drinks in the lounge area all day and I could reach most of the machines and crockery independently. The website advertised that the room could be set as a double bed or a twin as the beds zip together, but only double linen was supplied, and we were told we should have informed them in advance if we'd wanted the beds separate, even though there was no option online to do this. The big mis-step was that the wheelchair lift was not turned on and at the time of my visit there was nothing available to let them know that we wanted the lift activated, though they have told me there is an intercom system coming. There was no hearing support equipment offered, but when I asked if they could alert me to someone at the door by flashing out lights they were able to do so using the app connection to our room lighting, which was useful.

Transport & Parking

There is no parking anywhere near.

Access

4.5

It's not possible to pass up the street with a wheelchair or guide dog on the pavement as the pavement is too narrow. If the lift is operational then it is very accessible, though doors are mostly manual and of medium weight.

Toilets

4.5

You couldn't do much better without upgrading to a Changing Places format

Staff

3.5

If anything, perhaps the staff were too helpful, I wish they could have stepped back a little and let me use the self check-in services and stop offering to move my room once I said it was fine!
